Method

  1. Preheat oven to 350 and line a baking pan with parchment paper, leaving excess hanging over the edges of the pan. This will allow you to remove the dessert from the pan for easy cutting
  2. You’ll prepare the blondie and brownie batter in two separate bowls.
  3. Blondie batter-Melt 1 cup of the unsalted butter and in a large bowl, mix with the light brown sugar, vanilla extract and 1/3 cup of the granulated sugar. Once smooth, add one egg and combine. Add 1/2 tsp of the salt and the baking soda and mix. Then fold in 1/2 cup of the flour and all of the chocolate chips and set aside
  4. Brownie batter-Melt the remaining butter and bittersweet chocolate and combine until smooth. Add the remaining egg and blend. Mix in your remaining salt and granulated sugar. The batter will become grainy- this is okay! Fold in your flour and blend until smooth.
  5. Layer the batters in the baking pan and smooth over with a spatula to swirl together. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the blondie batter is golden brown. Test the batter with a toothpick or fork to check for doneness. Garnish with caramel sauce (optional) or other toppings and serve warm.
